Public Transport
You can also take a public bus to the nearest metro station. Public buses are very cheap - you pay only 26 CZK (1.10 EUR) for a ticket. If you are travelling with light luggage and time is not your priority buses are a safe way to travel. The only problem is that Prague public transport buses tend to be overcrowded and are not a very comfortable way of travelling. After a tiring flight most passengers avoid this option, especially if they are in Prague for the first time. Searching for your hotel address with your heavy luggage is not great fun.
CEDAZ Minibus
There might be another alternative called the CDEAZ shuttle bus, which departs at regular intervals of 30min or 60min. This takes you to the Prague Centrum bus stop for a fare of 120 CZK / 5 EUR per person. Only 1 item of luggage per person is allowed. Maximum waiting time is 1hr.
Airport Yellow Cabs
You can also take airport yellow cabs located in front of the terminal building. Expecat to pay meter fare around 600 CZK for a ride to the city centrum up to 700 CZK if you get stuck in traffic etc. If you travel to the farthest end of Prague you can pay up to 1050 CZK.
For your safety - check before you book!
As well as Prague’s overcharging cabbies there are now many transfer companies, or rather individuals, who provide only email or telephone contacts but give no information about their history or their registration/licence details. The reason is simple; most of them operate without a proper licence. However, this does not necessarily mean they will rob you, but it might be a serious problem if you are involved in an accident etc. Or another scenario is that no one will show up. Just use your common sense and check before you book.
Your Questions Answered
Is our Prague airport transfer service cheaper than an ordinary Prague airport taxi? Yes, our prices are slightly cheaper compared to regular airport taxi (similar if going to the city centre and much cheaper if travelling further). If you don't find an honest driver, you can easily find yourself paying 2 or 3 times more than the official taxi fare.
Why don't some companies show pictures of their vehicles?
Many websites do not provide transfers or a taxi service directly but work like affiliates. That means a third party does the job. In most cases you pay a lot more compared to making a booking with a transport company directly, and in the event of an unexpected problem you will not have a local contact or support.
I have seen in my guide book that price by taxi to the Prague Centum should cost no more than 400 CZK. Is it true?
This was true 6 years ago. Since then the price has almost doubled due to many factors. Generally you should pay around 600 CZK / 25 EUR but all depends on the destination, the honesty of the driver, and on the traffic (there is a charge of 6 CZK for each minute if the taxi is stuck in the traffic etc.).
We have just come back from our visit to Prague and we would like to say a big thank you to our drivers, they were both on time and very professional, and helped with the luggae to and from the car. The driver on the 1st day of our trip gave us some very useful information about the City, and a brilliant map. The free tour that you offer is also brilliant and we learned so much about the City and the History of Prague. We would definatley recommend your company to anyone wanting to visit Prague, and would definately recommend the tour. Thanks again. Cherise and Johnny posted on 19/1/2009
Dear Sirs I would just like to say thank you for your prompt taxi arrival and pick up. The driver who's name I unfortunately forgot to ask was excellent , spoke very good English, was very polite and courteous - opening the door for my wife on every occasion as well as helping with our luggage and was a credit to your company. Please give him our thanks Regards David and Viv Rogers posted on 17/1/2009
