Bus, Shuttle or a Private Taxi?

Please, just for your security before booking a cheaper transfer...

Private vs shared shuttle transfers (we do not offer shuttle transfers).

There are only 2 companies offering interesting shuttle prices one is called resorthoppa and other holidaytaxis. Both charge around 8.50 GBP per person for travel to the city centrum (this is not door to door service). They also charge credit card fee for booking which is quite high. If you are travelling in a group of more than one person there is no reason to book a shuttle as you will pay same price as if you book private taxi. Shared shuttles are only good value for those who are not in rush, or you are on the low budget. There might be waiting time up to 1hr as shuttles operate on the regular intervals or departing when the vehicle is fully occupied. There is also limitation of luggage and most shuttles in Prague allow only 1 luggage per passenger, or you might be required to pay extra fee.

For your safety: There are now many transfer companies where you only find telephone contact but nothing about the history of this transport company or their registration no. The reason is very simple, they might operate without a proper licence and many don’t pay taxes. But this does not necessary mean they will rob you, but it might be a serious problem if you are involved in an accident etc.

Why can some transport companies offer slightly cheaper services?

In most cases they advertise prices in a different currency which is more favourable but in fact you must pay in the local currency (check this in advance). At the end you pay much more as actual exchange rate is not that good as advertised on their webiste. We do not do this, the prices you see are the prices you pay.

Why some companies don’t show pictures of their vehicles?

Many websites do not provide transfers or a taxi service directly but only works like affiliates. That means the third party does the job. In most cases you pay a lot more compared to if you make a booking with a direct transport company and in the event of an unexpected problem you will not have a local contact or support.

Public transport.

You can also take public bus to the nearest metro station. Public buses are very cheap, you pay only 26 CZK (0.85 GBP) for a ticket. If you are travelling with a light luggage and time is not priority they are safe way to travel. The only problem is that Prague public transport tend to be overcrowded and not very comfortable way of travel. After tiring flight most passengers avoid this, especially if they are in Prague for the first time and searching for your address or hotel with your luggage is last thing they want.

Cedaz shuttle bus.
There might be another alternative called CDEAZ shuttle bus, which departs in regular intervals of 30min or 60min. They take you to the Prague Centrum stop for a fare of 120 CZK / 4 GBP per person. Also only 1 luggage per person is allowed. Max. waiting time is 1hr.

I have seen that price by taxi to the centum should cost no more than 400 CZK. Is it true?

It was a story 6 year ago. Since then price almost double due to the many factors. Generally you should pay around 600 CZK / 20 GBP but all depends on the location, honesty of the driver and on the traffic (plus a charge of 6 CZK for each minute if car is stuck in the traffic etc.).

Just a few words to say how we enjoyed the transfer to and from the Tulip Inn Hotel to the Airport. The driver was on time in both instances and helpful with our luggage. We arrived at the Prague airport (a mom and 2 daughters) after an all night flight. Not to worry, knew exactly where to find a driver. I booked a return taxi transfer for 4 persons from Prague Airport to Prague City centre a few days before arriving on 29th June 2006. The service provided by "Prague Airport Transfers" was absolutely first class. The driver was waiting for us at the Arrivals exit with my name very clearly visible on a large card. He was very courteous and carried all our luggage to the nearby taxi. During the transfer he pointed out various places of interest and on arrival carried our luggage into the hotel. The same driver arrived exactly on time at our hotel for the return transfer 3 days later and put our luggage on a trolley on arrival at Prague Airport Departures Terminal.
