An Abbey Above the Danube
Melk is a small town on the Danube in Lower Austria, at the western end of the Wachau valley. Above it, on a rock over the river, stands Melk Abbey, where Benedictine monks have lived since 1089. The present Baroque building dates from the early 18th century, and visitors can see its library, the Marble Hall and the richly decorated abbey church.
Downstream from Melk, the Wachau is a UNESCO-listed stretch of the Danube with vineyards, apricot orchards and villages such as Dürnstein, where Richard the Lionheart was held prisoner in the castle above the river. Many Danube river cruises stop in Melk for a visit to the abbey. We drive you between Prague and the town, your hotel or your ship.

Stopover Tip
Telč, with its UNESCO-listed square of Renaissance houses, is only a short detour on the way. Add it as a stop and your driver waits while you look around.

Waiting Charge
If the driver waits for you or you book a multi-stop transfer, for example while you visit one city before continuing to another, a waiting charge is added to your fare.
Minivan Special Offer
Many airport taxis take only three passengers and may not fit large bags in a sedan. We take groups of up to four passengers with their luggage in a larger vehicle at a special price: choose “Minivan” (4 seats) when you book online. The offer does not apply to groups of five or more, who travel by minibus at the standard price.

From Prague Centre it is about 265 km, which usually takes around 3 hours 40 minutes. From Prague Airport it is about 290 km and around 4 hours. Rush hour in Prague can add some time.
Yes. Your driver takes you to the landing stage or meets you there at the agreed time. Tell us your ship's name and the landing stage from your cruise documents when you book. If the transfer does not start in Prague, you pay for it in full in advance.
Yes. Add Dürnstein as a stop: from there the road follows the Danube through the Wachau to Melk. Your driver waits while you look around. Short stops are free; longer stops have a waiting charge.

For a group of three to six passengers on a longer trip, with plenty of luggage, we recommend our minivan. For up to two passengers with large bags, or three with medium-sized bags, a sedan is the better choice and gives you a more comfortable ride. Not sure? The price we quote is final: there are no extra fees for our services or for short stops. Waiting charges for optional longer stops are not included. You will have no surprises or additional fees.
