A City of Music and Trade Fairs
Leipzig is the largest city in Saxony, about 100 km north-west of Dresden. It has held trade fairs since the Middle Ages, and its university, founded in 1409, is one of the oldest in Germany. Johann Sebastian Bach worked at St Thomas Church for 27 years and is buried there, and the Gewandhaus Orchestra still plays in the city today.
In autumn 1989 the Monday prayers at St Nicholas Church grew into the peaceful demonstrations that helped bring down the East German regime. From the Old Town Hall on the market square you can walk through the shopping arcades to both churches in a few minutes. A private transfer takes you door to door, with no changes on the way.
Worth Seeing
- St Thomas Church, where Bach is buried
- St Nicholas Church and the 1989 Monday demonstrations
- The Old Town Hall on the market square
- The Monument to the Battle of the Nations
- Auerbachs Keller, made famous by Goethe's Faust
Stopover Tip
Dresden lies on the way to Leipzig. Add it as a stop to see the Frauenkirche and the Zwinger, and your driver waits while you look around.
Fares, waiting and larger groups
We Offer Three Fares
Waiting Charge
If the driver waits for you or you book a multi-stop transfer, for example while you visit one city before continuing to another, a waiting charge is added to your fare.
Minivan Special Offer
Many airport taxis take only three passengers and may not fit large bags in a sedan. We take groups of up to four passengers with their luggage in a larger vehicle at a special price: choose “Minivan” (4 seats) when you book online. The offer does not apply to groups of five or more, who travel by minibus at the standard price.
